53 Ford F100

This is my 1953 Ford F100. I bought it in October of 1991, and it had been used pretty hard. It already had a 289 engine and C4 transmission from a 67 Mustang. The following pictures will show the work I have done to the truck over the years. I did all of the work myself, paint, upholstery, body work and all the mechanical. The only worked I farmed out was the machine work on the engine. Most of the pictures are scans of photographs and I apologize for the quality.

The before picture. This is how it looked.

A look at the interior, not too bad.

This is before I started tear down, I wrote the date on the windshield.

During tear down.

Some chassis pictures, later I installed a Mustang II front suspension.

I rebuilt the Mustang 289.

Here are some views of the truck during assembly.

That is a great looking truck! With all the parts and labor, what was the end price to restore it? I love this era for trucks!

Thanks for the nice comments. Vince, I don’t have an exact figure on how much I have in my truck, but it is some where in the 9 to 10 thousand dollar range. Doing all the labor myself saved me quite a bit. Thanks again.

Nice work and a beautiful truck. I have a ’53 F100 also, ’69 LTD clip, 460ci Lincoln w/C6 tranny. I hvae about 5k more than you and I thought it was a bargain. You really got a bargain, except the aches and pains of construction. Nice job and good luck. Don

Hey Don and Vince this reply has been a long time coming. I totaled up my costs again just to check and my figures were wrong! I actually have about $13K inthe truck. That’s still low buck.

I LIKE YOUR TRUCK! VERY NICE JOB! WHAT TYPE OF HOOD HINGES DID YOU USE?

Hey Billy, The hood hinges came in a forward tilt kit from No Limit Engineering. I think hinges are actually from a BMW car. Thanks for the compliment.
